I-Descriptors

DESCRIPTION:

This course is designed for clients who desire to add functionality to their MANAGE 2000™ systems.

The goal of the course is to help students learn I-Descriptors or Virtual Attributes. I-Descriptors are dictionary items with formulas that can do math with other data or literals. They can translate data from associated files. They can manipulate dynamic data or string. They can even execute a UniBasic subroutine.

I-Descriptors are one of the most powerful tools in UniData™. They can be used with IEP, ODBC calls, SQL Statements, UniBasic Programs, and Query Language Commands.

This course is NOT designed to:

  • Teach UniBasic™ Programming
  • Teach MANAGE 2000™ Toolsets
  • Train personnel in the setup or use of hardware peripherals (ie. Printers, etc.)
  • Teach the student basic MANAGE 2000™ module training

OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:

  • Use DICT.BUILD to create I-Descriptors
  • Do math with existing data and literals
  • Manipulate data (Concatenation, Extraction, etc.)
  • Translate data from other files
  • Learn some UniBasic™ commands
  • Create a UniBasic™ Subroutine
  • Learn how to handle Multi-Valued Data
